FundRays coordinates your community's money — it never holds it. Here is exactly what is charged, by whom, and why.
At the standard rate, FundRays adds no markup of its own. The only charges that apply are Safaricom's own M-Pesa transaction charges, set out below.
Two separate M-Pesa charges can apply to a contribution — one when money is collected, one when it is settled to the recipient. FundRays is designed so the recipient always receives the full stated amount.
Whatever contribution amount is set, the treasurer / recipient receives it in full. FundRays covers the settlement charge by grossing it up at collection, so the payout nets whole.
Money is collected into a Safaricom-licensed account and settles directly to the recipient. FundRays is a coordination layer, not a custodian, bank or deposit-taker.
When a contributor pays, Safaricom applies its standard M-Pesa transaction charge to the payment. This is displayed before the contributor confirms. FundRays receives none of it.

When money is paid out to the recipient, Safaricom applies a payout charge that depends on the destination. FundRays recovers this at collection so the recipient is never short. Rates depend on the settlement rail chosen by the group.
