Data Deletion Request

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data held by FundRays. This page explains what data we hold and how to request its removal.

What data FundRays holds

When you use FundRays — either as a group organiser or as a contributor — we may hold the following:

We do not hold payment card details, bank account numbers (these go directly to Safaricom), or any identity documents.


How to request deletion

Send a deletion request by any of the following methods:

Email us at privacy@fundraised.africa with subject line: Data Deletion Request. Include your phone number so we can locate your records.

What happens after your request

  1. We will acknowledge your request within 48 hours.
  2. Your personal data (phone number, name, contribution history, membership records) will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
  3. Aggregated, anonymised transaction totals used for platform statistics may be retained but cannot be linked back to you.
  4. Where retention is required by Kenyan financial regulation (e.g. M-Pesa transaction records), we will inform you of the legal basis and minimum retention period.

Kenya Data Protection Act 2019

FundRays operates in compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019. Your right to erasure is protected under Section 26(e) of the Act. If you believe your request has not been handled appropriately, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).
